This Culminating Experience of the Capstone Experience - Business Project was very exciting and honorable for being the first class to execute this project fully. There were some pivoting points in the outcome of our project, but my partner and I adjusted efficiently. The result still benefits the coaching academy by having an Excel sheet of resources that help point out mental health and coaches that we found in our research.

Because of the Coaches Academy, I was blessed to work with three partners to create a fundraiser for student-led sports management organizations. We planned a tournament that involved three sports: volleyball, basketball, and spike ball. We did everything from setting the date and location to having businesses donate items to us to marketing the event to try to get people to show up. Although things may have gone differently, this was an excellent experience for me to learn and understand the importance of hands-on experience.

I had the opportunity to work with a team to plan and organize a field day/fundraiser in collaboration with the Coaching Academy to raise money for the Sport Management Society and Student Coaches Association. This business project placed an emphasis on teamwork and learning to plan an event from the ground up. The semester consisted of working with three other students to plan the event's logistics, with no prior knowledge of planning events. We learn how to market to students, build and utilize a website, communicate with local businesses for donations, stay in contact with the two organizations, and just about every detail that goes into planning and running an event. This business project taught me to be a better communicator and team member. Working with three people you met the semester before is hard, but it was a great experience to learn more about them and to have this project reveal more about me.

Our Capstone Experience—Business Project involved hosting an event called the Triple Play Fundraiser Challenge. Students could sign up to play basketball, spike ball, and volleyball. The event also included a silent auction, which ranged from gift cards from restaurants to football signed by players like Dak Prescott.

For my Capstone Experience - Business Project, I have been tasked with working with the Thornton-McFerrin Coaching Academy. The Thornton-McFerrin Coaching Academy aims to educate and equip participants with valuable information that will lead to the development of newly formed leaders in the coaching industry. My role in this project has been to develop methods and strategies to improve the coaching academy’s supplemental content, specifically as it relates to its podcast products. Specifically, I have been tasked to seek improvement efforts to create and implement the Coaching Academy’s two podcasts, the 3-Minute Drill and The Handoff. The goal for this Capstone Project was to put together a repeatable, sustainable process to support the continued development and dissemination of each podcast. Throughout my Culminating Experience, I got the opportunity to work with the assistant director of the Thornton-McFerrin Coaching Academy, Ms. Campbell.

Our group was tasked with organizing a field day/fundraiser to support the university's student-led sports organizations. Over a semester, we worked on planning, brainstorming, and gathering ideas and materials that would contribute to a great event. Teamwork, communication, and ingenuity were all necessary for planning and hosting the final event.
