Summer II: July 2 - August 6, 2025

Program Fee:

SPMT and CEHD students: $4,100 est. (after SPMT and CEHD contributions to reduce program cost)

Non SPMT and CEHD students: $7,100 est.

Not included: Airfare, tuition, some lunches, personal spending

The tuition cost depends on the number of credit hours (1 – 6)

Germany - Austria 2025 - Sport Business in Europe

Academic site visits and activities expected (but not guaranteed) to be included in the schedule:

  • Lectures or tours at
    • Adidas World Headquarters in Herzogenaurach, Germany
    • International Paralympic Committee world headquarters, Bonn, Germany
    • FC Bayern München Home Office Headquarters
    • Allianz Arena in Munich
    • DHL World Headquarters (Sport Sponsoring), Bonn, Germany
    • Bergisel World Cup Ski Jump facility, Innsbruck
    • Olympic Ski Jump, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany
  • Workshop with students at the German Sport University Cologne (largest sport university in the world)
  • Sport University Innsbruck lecture on winter sport events
  • Tours of Munich 1972 Olympic Stadium and Allianz Arena (home to FC Bayern München)
  • German Olympic History Museum
  • Lectures from leading German and Austrian Sport Management scholars
  • Active learning about German sport clubs, including baseball, rugby, basketball and soccer
  • A short course in German culture, and “essential” German language (“Wo ist die toilette, bitte?”)

Cultural visits and activities expected to be included in the schedule:

Bonn / Cologne / Frankfurt / Rhine River area:

  • A tour of the almost 800-year old Cologne Cathedral
  • A tour of the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site
  • ELDE Haus Cologne – Nazi Prison Documentation Center in Cologne
  • German Post-WWII History Museum
  • Cruise on the “romantic” Rhine River, including a visit to historic castles overlooking the Rhine, and a visit to the primary wine producing region of Germany
  • Spend the night in a 1,000+ year old castle in Bacharach that is now a hotel
  • Hike up the Drachenfels (“Dragon’s Mountain) overlooking the Rhine River
  • Wine tasting & sampling of traditional German foods & drinks
  • A visit to the Haribo outlet store (makers of Gummi Bears) – Bonn is the home of Haribo

Munich / The Alps / Austria:

  • Historical tours of Munich, Innsbruck, and Garmisch-Partenkirchen 
  • A mountain hike in the high Alps above Innsbruck
  • Spend a day on Lake Eibsee boating, swimming and hiking

Additional travel typically included:

  • A group excursion lasting 9 – 10 days. This year we will be going to Innsbruck, Garmisch-Partenkirchen & Munich
  • A 3-4 day weekend available for independent student travel (where in Europe have you always wanted to go? Paris? Prague? Berlin? London? Rome? Dublin? Amsterdam? Barcelona?)
