The Culminating Experience epitomizes the application of student learning. The students become co-creators of their learning, customizing their experience within each option to best suit their career goals. Faculty work one-on-one with students to ensure they have a robust plan for completing their experience and have the needed resources.

The Culminating Experience includes CE - Business Project, CE - Entrepreneurial, International, Internship, and Research options. Each option requires students to complete a 13-credit hour Culminating Experience prior to graduation.

Our Sport Management (SPMT) students apply to and are matched with a Culminating Experience. To apply, students must complete an Introduction to Culminating Experience seminar which gives them an explanation of each option. In this seminar, students connect their career goals to each Culminating Experience option and develop a practical “game plan” for completing each option. Once the application is submitted, SPMT faculty match each student to the experience most fitting of their “game plan.”

Each SPMT student has unique career goals and aspirations. Through these Culminating Experience options, we provide specific opportunities that meet students’ needs and desires. Allowing our students choice adds value to our curriculum as we seek to improve our students’ marketability.
