This faculty-led education abroad program focuses on the leadership practices and business aspects of sport in Spain. Through this experience, students will have the opportunity to learn about various leadership and management styles, business strategies, marketing techniques, and international sports governance from a variety of international perspectives. As companies continue to diversify, there is an increasing demand for industry professionals who can effectively communicate with individuals from all walks of life.
Spain is a culturally rich and diverse Spanish-speaking country. One of the primary objectives of this program is to provide students with the opportunity to develop and enhance their cultural competence, a set of skills essential for success in the sports industry. For students planning to pursue careers in sports, such as fútbol, baseball, or basketball, it is likely that they will work with colleagues and participants whose first language is Spanish. Through a variety of site visits and interactive events, including a five-day case study activity in Madrid (May 13-17), students will learn about and experience unique cultures and traditions, as well as gain a fundamental understanding of how sport leadership is delivered and sport business is conducted within Spain. This program is designed to last two weeks.
