Japan 2025 - Sociology of Sport in Japan

Explore modern Tokyo and historical Kyoto

  • Visit Olympic venues
  • Attend a Sumo tournament
  • Meet with Japanese peers/students
  • Visit Japanese castles and shrines
  • Ride the famous bullet train
  • Attend a professional baseball game

 

Program Details

During this trip students will learn about both the sport culture in Japan, but also the societal culture in Japan. We will learn about various sport organizations and venues in Japan, including a visit to the National Stadium and Olympic Museum, attending a Sumo tournament, and taking in a Nippon Professional Baseball game. We will also explore many significant culture sites, including castles, shrines, and temples throughout Japan. This trip will give students an inside perspective on the similarities and differences between sport in Japan and sport in the United States.
