This has been a very fun experience as I have been reaching out to coaches and players, trying to get them to attend a combine we are putting on in North Carolina. There is still more to come from this experience, as the Combine is not until May 30th, but it has been a great experience working with a team of people all over the US. Communication is very important for me because it has been all remote work, but I am very happy with my choice to work with the National Scouting Combine and Jimmy.

My capstone experience with the National Scouting Combine has been a great step into the real sports industry, especially on the communication and relationship side. I spent most of my time reaching out to athletes, sending their Athletic Performance Reports, and checking in on where they are in their careers. I talked to players who had already signed and others who were still trying to get noticed, helping guide them on promoting themselves and staying active with teams and agents. It pushed me out of my comfort zone, but I got better at communicating professionally and handling real responsibilities. Overall, it helped me grow, build confidence, and understand how important relationships and follow up are in sports.

For my Capstone Experience, I worked with the National Scouting Combine (NSC) to help run their social media and alongside their marketing team. I created a four-week content plan to help more people learn about NSC and get athletes excited about the Combine. I made videos, athlete spotlights, and behind-the-scenes posts. I also helped keep everything organized with weekly updates and feedback from the team. This project helped me learn what it’s like to work in sports marketing in the real world. I got better at making content, working with others, and managing deadlines. It showed me how important social media is for building connections between athletes, teams, and fans, and it gave me good experience for my future career.

During my Culminating Experience - Business Project, I worked with Jimmy Kibble, CEO and founder of the National Scouting Combine. The National Scouting Combine is a football combine for draft-eligible athletes. Even though they prioritize football testing, they’re looking to expand into other sports, with one being baseball. I came up with a plan to potentially host a baseball combine. I researched and evaluated the essential elements pivotal to executing an innovative baseball combine. These components include the ideal venue, modern technology, price, evaluation tools, and more. Overall, I enjoyed this experience and learned how to plan a successful and appealing baseball scouting event methodically.
