My Culminating Experience was a great opportunity for my team and me to learn more about working in the sport industry. We gained hands-on event planning experience and became more knowledgeable about how corporate partnerships work. Working with TexAgs provided me with crucial knowledge of events and sponsorships, and I am very grateful to the Sport Management department and Professor Geyer for their help in securing this position.

Words of Wisdom

  • Two things I would recommend for future CE students would be: Do not procrastinate, and always do your work with 100% effort.

My Culminating Experience allowed me to gain hands-on insights into event planning, communication, and professional collaboration through my work with TexAgs. Throughout the semester, I contributed to multiple events—ranging from sponsor lunches to gameday tailgates—and was able to see firsthand how much coordination, adaptability, and teamwork go into executing successful experiences. Each event offered something new to learn, whether it was managing setup, preparing materials, organizing check-in processes, or adjusting to last-minute challenges. I was able to strengthen my problem-solving skills, build confidence in high-pressure environments, and grow more comfortable working with staff, sponsors, and vendors.Beyond the technical side of event operations, this experience helped me understand the importance of clear communication, strong relationships, and consistent professionalism. I learned how to anticipate needs, collaborate with a team, and contribute meaningfully to creating positive experiences for attendees. Overall, my Culminating Experience was extremely rewarding and shaped both my academic and career goals by giving me real-world experience in a fast-paced, people-centered environment.

For my Culminating Experience, I had the opportunity to help plan 9 events and work the events. We had to come up with different game plans for the events and present the ideas. We got to sit in and listen to different potential sponsorship calls. We got to work closely with the director of sales and events. I got to learn how to properly plan and work an event and receive different advice on how to improve. It was also a networking opportunity and TexAgs helped you connect and meet different people. Overall, my Culminating Experience was truly amazing and helped me get my next opportunity and prepare for the future.

Words of Wisdom

  • Focus on networking

I got to work directly on a number of significant projects at TexAgs, including site coordination, sponsor relations, and event planning. Together with my team, I helped plan and organize the Kick-Off Summer Kickball Tournament, securing sponsorships, organizing prizes, and helping to construct the event's framework. In order to improve the experience of sponsors and attendees, I also helped with the Pre-Season Kick-Off event by meeting with venue staff, redesigning the event arrangement, and coming up with ideas for raffle and auction item packages. I also oversaw communications for the Breaking Traditions screening by liaising with the event sponsor and venue manager to keep the preparation process on schedule. During my internship, I developed my ability to work under pressure, solve problems fast, and communicate effectively in a hectic setting. I was able to gain useful professional skills in event planning, marketing coordination, and teamwork throughout my time at TexAgs.

For my culminating experience, I was given the opportunity to create and execute events for TexAgs. Some of these events include a fundraising night/kick-off party for the Aggie soccer team, tailgates for Texas A&M football games, and hosting a movie premiere for TexAgs partner company Texas Filmswork's newest movie-Breaking Tradition. Throughout my semester working for TexAgs, I gained so much experience in event management, and I now have the tools and foundation needed to succeed after college.
